James Place Marketing's heritage is in Chicago, IL, when the founder, Katie Sznewajs, packed up a U-Haul with her 2 best friends after graduating from the University of Kansas and moved to an apartment on St. James Place in Lincoln Park. She began her advertising and marketing career at MindShare, and then received a job offer to move over seas and work with a company called Media Plus, working as an international business consultant. After a few years, she moved back to Chicago and moved on to the Publishing world where she worked at Time Inc. & Meredith Corporations on HEALTH, COOKING LIGHT & MORE Magazines.
New York
When job offers brought an opportunity to move to NYC, Katie and her husband jumped at the chance. She began working at Hearst Corporation on one of the world's largest women's lifestyle brands, REDBOOK Magazine. Katie created and sold multi-media programs to the world's biggest beauty and fashion companies such as L'Oreal, Procter & Gamble, Coty, Johnson & Johnson, Macy's, Unilever & Reebok, to name a few. Three little girls came along and she decided to retire from the publishing world for a few years to focus on taking care of her family.
Denver
Family and an amazing lifestyle brought the Sznewajs clan to Denver, CO in 2013. Katie's dream has always been to open up her own marketing firm and she finally took the leap in 2015. While her background has always been with big, multi-billion dollar brands, she's found that her heart really belongs with the small business owners and their passion to bring their ideas to life. In the short time that JPM has been opened, we've worked with brands in health & fitness, golf, landscape design, waste management and vacation real estate industries on a variety of different projects.
